What is a Flameproof Stirrer?
A flameproof stirrer is an electric motor stirrer housed in a certified flameproof enclosure (IEC/JIS Ex d). The enclosure is designed to contain any internal ignition and prevent flame propagation to the surrounding atmosphere.
Advantages
- Precise speed control: Full electronic speed control with digital readout — unlike air motor stirrers.
- Rotation speed monitoring: Real-time feedback of actual rotation speed allows process consistency.
- Wide speed range: Covers low-speed (high-viscosity) to high-speed (low-viscosity) applications.
- No compressed air needed: Works wherever there is an electrical outlet — no compressor infrastructure required.
- Compatible with standard stirring blade lineup: Uses the same blades and shafts as non-flameproof Three-One Motor models.
Disadvantages
- Higher cost: Flameproof certification and robust enclosure construction significantly increase cost compared with standard electric models.
- Heavier: The robust enclosure makes flameproof models heavier than standard electric stirrers of similar output.
- Certification scope: HEIDON Ex Series certification is valid only in Japan (TIIS certified, Ex db IIB T4 Gb). International export requires separate certification.
- Power supply limitation: 100 V AC only (Japan domestic specification).
